This Halloween the Covey Center for the Arts presents “Deep Love: A Ghostly Folk Opera." Enter a 19th century graveyard in this original work and decide for yourself if love really lasts beyond the grave.
"Deep Love" is the story of Constance, a woman who is protected by the ghost of her deceased husband, then is later haunted by him when she dares to move on to a new - and living - love. Told entirely through continuous, haunting music, "Deep Love " blends traditional folk instruments and melodies with bluesy American rock to tell the tale of jealous love’s tragic reach beyond the grave.
Since its debut performance in 2010, the engaging story, haunting music, and widespread appeal of “Deep Love” has garnered overwhelming support and immediate fan loyalty that has now vaulted the show into a growing theatrical event throughout Utah and Eastern Idaho. This special Halloween performance boasts a dynamic cast featuring American Idol finalist Jon Peter Lewis as Old Bones, Garrett Sherwood as Friedrich, Erica Rascon as Constance and Mallorie Lamb as Florence. Deep Love is the brain child of two local artists, Ryan J. Hayes and Garrett Sherwood.
Happy, sad, fun, entertaining, heartwarming and heartbreaking, it is intended to be enjoyed by all audiences. Appropriate for Ages 10 and up. Come and experience the chill of a lifetime. For the full and haunting experience, funeral attire is recommended.
